Biography

Newaz is a Hard Rock Band influenced by Blues, Punk and Grunge. Satish Sthapit, who was a singer and guitarist in the band named VAMPIRES, the band split in 1990, and the remaining boys decided to form a new band and take part in a band competition being organised in Kathmandu. Then came the moment when the band NEWAZ was formed which literally meant 'Nepali Awaz' that also is a representative of the Newari community. A staple in our rock culture, the band's first phase was from 1990-1996 with the second album coming in 2008 only and the band saw contuinity from 2011 onwards till date. The current lineup has Satish in guitar and vocals, Roshan on bass, Anish on drums and Nishant on organ.
