Biography

‘On Acid’ is a contemporary Rock band formed by the dynamic trio Pratik Thapa (pop), Sijan Maharjan (Season Waters) and Sanjog Maharjan (Sanzok Barrett). The band began to materialize in 2017 when the three emerging talents got together to collaborate and explore their individual styles in Math, Punk, Indie, Post and Hard Rock. Eventually, they have established a genre of their own which they love to refer to as Squash Rock.

Pratik is the composer and writer of the band who also leads the guitar. Sanjog is the bassist of the band looks after the sound design, recording and audio production. Sijan, an ethnomusicologist with his specialization in Nava Bājā is the percussionist for the band.

As trio vocalists, they experiment with harmonization in their singing. The strings in their music explore the psychedelic aspect of human experiences where as the percussions experiment with the polyrhythms, most often implementing eastern syllables in western drums. They take nature and its energies as the core inspiration for the creation of their music. Additionally the concept of surrealism has been an integral part of their work. At times their music also reflects upon their day to day life in relation to the present context of the city.
