6 songs – 6 emotions – a progressive and alternative rock staple for many – Jindabaad’s Plastic Heart EP is a quality release. The EP starts off with that song with that practice room video on YouTube – “Shades of You” and what a starter this one is – the slow builds – the erratic switches and the dissonant solo parts – definitely a classic for a long time to come. What hits you straight away is the production value of this record – a perfect balance of rawness and smoothness. “Preset” seamlessly comes in as the intro keys reminds us of Salman and Aishwarya everytime – a long time running joke and nothing else – this is easily one of the highlights of the album. The vocal melodies and the sense of playing around with time signatures only as much as needed gives this song a crisp edge. The third track is “Rewind” and there is not much to be said here as this single and music video has almost received a cult status already in our scene. A groovy riff anchors this song around subtle fills and that iconic guitar solo – a punchy one this is. In come then the live favorite of many – a bouncy alternative rock anthem – “Big Fucking Mess” and sounds grand where it should without sounding clichéd. A proper steady rocker this one! Now comes in what we like to call our favorite 33.33% of the record – “Spoilin” and “Inmotion” where the band’s freest and experimental side comes in. Here we would like to mention that each member is the Chuck Norris of the instrument they carry and in these two songs – we believe all of that perfectly shines and gels. “Spoilin” is a slow burner with an equally intriguing music video. The intro sounds like a subdued lament that slowly builds up to insanity. This is a detailed track with the beauty in its subtle layers and fills with a big payoff in the form of a rambling riff fest and outro. A solid one! Then comes in “Inmotion” – our personal favorite. Slowly corrosive - this one – the tremolos – the haunting scrapes – audio samples – reversed voicings –a steady percussion and bass – all giving a lovely environment. The – inmotion – chant at the end is what makes this song – definitely our favorite from this EP. Will we hear more from this band? We surely need and deserve to!
