The climactic epiphany on "Narayani" paints such a vivid picture of place and time that it deceives listeners into believing they are sharing a common memory. The subtle emotional release is positively striking, making this one of his greatest "obscurities," if you could call it that. It brings the listener to a fascinating place with a casual sense of style, and it is easy, brilliant, and dramatic. It is the composition that most appropriately reflects an almost unsurpassed skill, in other words, to craft lovely haunting melodies, as sung and written by Phatcowlee himself.
