Another offering from the Raat Ko Raani chronicle, “Asha Nirasha” has a more traditional alternative approach and tone and is a lovely contrast to the already diverse soundscape of this record. This song flows smoothly from the get go and the melody pockets and variations are so subtly planned that you barely noticed when the song starts or end if put on repeat. The lyrical approach of Albatross is one of the many reasons that the band is where they are and this song is no different. The bouncy driving rhythms, the thud of a bass line and the overall feel of the song oozes with melancholia. This song somehow manages to sound like a time capsule for those who enjoy alt-rock of the late 90s. The subtle variation before the guitar solo with glockenspiels like additions is a nice addition. A sweet release from a band that doesn’t seem to know what a bad song is.
