Majipa’s Ma Sapanama Baachna Chahanchu starts off with a very 80s –ish grandiose arena rock filled “Bujha Mannka Kura”. The song feels like a trip down memory lane with big hairs and synchronized guitar duels. Especially the pinch harmonics and shred! A fun way to starts things off. “Oilaisakyo” comes in next and is a mix of 90s Nepali pop and alternative – as the song takes a swerve from another intro into a mellow playful melody. The third track is “Mukti” that starts off with a melancholic intro. The addition of violins and other instruments as and when possible throughout the album is a nice touch to things. “Ma sapana ma bachna chahanchu malai nidaune upaya bataideu” he sings earnestly. A power ballad at its core without the too high vocal register this one. “Duiguna Badhi” comes in next with riffs and pinch harmonics galore and the song sounds like a cross of Santana and a modern rock track. A straight up one. Midway through, “Kasaile” comes in which enters the ballad territory of this album. A tune surely meant to please a bigger mass with its acoustic feel and the ususal sense of a heartbreak. A mellow tune this one. “Birsideu” comes in next promising to be a heavy one with the guitar fading in and turns into the most 80s sounding tune with wailing vocals and big guitars. A nod to nostalgia! The seventh one “Prashna” another ballad on this one. The band knows its comfort zone and used it very well. “Pahilo Ra Antim Prem” is the second last track and is a keyboard laden tune about losing a loved one – the usual but in a power ballad environment. “Bagmati” closes things off with bell hits and a grand sounding intro – a heavy way to end the 9-tracker album and is a different approach seen in the entire album with more melancholic chords, aggressive vocals and a dynamically managed ride. This album is a definite nod to the who 80s and the hair metal and glam rock era and it’s good to see it being done here. A lost timeline!
