You’re Next in Line (to get punched)…must be the full title of this record from the classy hardcore outfit Strangle. “Pick a Fight” starts of this affair and is a non-stop assault clocking in at a minute plus. All fifteen tracks are around the minute mark plus range. Short power packed songs with a no bullshit approach that pump you up. “Slowly and Gently” is the exact opposite of how the song sounds. The pick scrapes are like Bane’s serum and you get jacked up as the song and album progresses. The third track “Broken Home” is the most old-school sounding yet. One notable trait is the clarity in the vocal delivery with words more or less and not lost in guttural outburst. “Fucked” is a representation of what will happen in the mosh pit when they play it live. Another powerhouse of a song. The fifth track “No-Man’s Land” is the best example of the combination of raw punk and thrash. This one feels like it should have been a bit longer with its multiple vocal layers and rawness. “Fuck Politicians” – fuck the system follows with a 50 second sonic assault ending in a hilarious note. Maybe Haribahadur entered the studio? “Broken Out” is the most straight up punk sounding and a good example of the genre – a groovy one this one. The title track comes in next and is rightfully so. The breaks, chugs and power in this one is definitely an adrenaline shot straight up your spine! “Liars” is another short spurt of aggression and this is when you notice that the drum works are impeccable on this record. Not taking anything away from any of the members. “Suicidal” starts off with a slow doomy riff reminiscent of Sabbath or South of Heaven era before stabbing you in the face with some Sepultura – Schizophrenia assault. Just analogies - no direct links! The eleventh track “Eye Rape” is a keyboard driven power ballad – Umm Nope!! This record is straight up fire and aggression mixed with meth filled up in your normal saline drip at full. The pedal works on this one is efficient and precise! The riffage and vocal style gives this one a radioactive status. A gnarly punk bassline starts off “Death” and the most melodic that the band can get. “Will Not Bend” comes in next and this one is a thrasher and our favorite from the album!! This track represents everything that Strangle is!! The album ends on a high note with “Life Full of Shit” – Reread that! Well apart from the title the album closure fills up your veins with the will to mosh one last time. A strong release overall with proper production value. This is a ripper!
