The latest offering from Strangle is a The 21-minute battering that starts with “Bloody Pretenders” that feels like a bridge between their last offering and this one – straight up rampage that sets you up for the second track “Journey” that is a calculated headbanger. Downstrokes galore this one! “Hooked” steps the assault up a notch with its anthem like feel and a strong vocal presence. In comes our favorite from the album – “One Voice” – No lines – no god – no sect – no war – this song is determination redefined. “Dissever” starts off without any alarms and is anthemic in it presentation. The sudden tempo switch in the outro is a nice touch. “Stained” comes in next which reminded of a dear band from another genre – but back to the track – this is a groovy one – the kind that will most likely start a mosh during their live shows. The break and build section is crushing. Then we go off with a drum riot for “Song of Resistance”. Straight up their alley – this is a banger as well with a fun Oi chant. Drums and bass kick in breaking into a tasty Seattle infused jam before the “Illusion” breaks and a full thrash sonic brutality kicks in. Short and explosive! “Democracy is a Lie” follows mercilessly before a well put break and a powerhouse of a chorus. Definitely one of the highlights of the album! The seamless transition gives its way to the title track of this record and has one of the most throaty and aggressive vocal deliveries of the record. Power packed! This gives way to a power chord led “Stand As One” and is a powerhouse of a song. “Unbroken” follows suit raising the bar again. The drums are brutal on this one! “The Menace Society” comes in next and almost sounds power violence-ish but holds its own as it grows. “Denial” starts off real strong and is a banger of a track – a galloping rage ensues throughout and closes off the record in a proper fucking way. A strong effort but the lyrics tend to be monotonous at times. Maybe for good or maybe not – but definitely a band to look out for every time they come up live or come up with something new!
