A gnarly bassline, shrieking licks, octave and fuzz overload and steady kicks. “Wicked Child” sets you up for the sludgy, muddy, doomy and stoned ride that this record is. Nasty and hypnotic, HOS can be best described as Black Sabbath on meth. What an opener! “3 Monkeys” follows next and this was the first taste of the band we got through its music video. Heavy as fuck as it should be – this one is straight up fire filled with all the 90s goodness and vocal melodies and the little variations in between makes this a delight. The bass tone is kickass! A fuzz and synth infused riff kicks in your face next with an interesting time signature – “Biujhaune Sahara” – this is reminiscent of post Layne AIC such as Acid Bubble and Phantom Limb. If you’re into slow burning tracks, this is right up your alley. The title track “Blue for Death” comes in next and might be the shortest track on this record and is a wah pedal heaven. The riffs and punch in this record is commendable. The lyrics are personal and self-reflective and straight up in all of the songs. The outro of this one is beautiful. “Baula Geet” comes in next as this foot stomping melody and is a nice change of pace and the bass is lovely on this one. “Ittako Jawaaf Patthar” is an interesting title choice and has the most honest vocal performance of this record. Clocking in at around 7 minutes once again, the songs are on the lengthier side on this record which would translate to some lovely live moments given the soundscapes this band offers. “Yin and Yang” has a beautiful bass and guitar intro – almost a state of tranquil – a trippy track but a tad bit stretched in our opinion. The second last track is “Outta Control” swtiches it up nicely between its heavy and mellow parts and the guitar solo is lovely on this one. Now comes the massive “Voices” – clocking in at around 10 minutes to close this mammoth of an album and what a way to close it money shot riffs – one after another – this is a sludge heaven and the highlight of the album in our books. This album is for patient listeners and fans of stoner and doom. The outro riff and solo to the last track is epic! A solid offering from H.O.S.!
