Six beautiful tracks and a range of seamless transient emotions and ambience. This sums up the self-titled debut album of Resonance of Roots. A septet ensemble, each member provides a unique element to each of their songs and it is to be stressed here that this is a band definitely to be seen live. The LP starts off with “Dhe Dhe Chula Pasa” which roughly translates to “Dude I am Drunk” and is the only folkish sounding song on this record – once the manic laughter stops. Monologues and ambience are a big part of this passage as seen in the start itself. This album is about not rushing things and is more about listening intently to the sonic journey that has been laid out before you. The selo beat gives way to “Without Your Sunshine”. It is the most Western sounding track on this album but not without that beautiful Eastern classical vocal solo in the middle and the outro will have you singing “La ta di dada la ta di dada” by your second listen. The beaut is followed by “Yedi” a gorgeous acoustic guitar driven alternative tune with grand drums and ambience that leaves you feeling good in your tum-tums. “Find Your Way” follows with a straight up intro and is the second one in English for this LP. A modest song about finding hope and your way – beauty in simplicity is what this one exhibits. “Bahana” comes up next with its slow buildup into one of the most beautiful tunes ever. This song has that laid back progressive feel – the kind that makes you want to take a drag of your cigarette and just stare into the ceiling. The album closure is done through “Dhunwa” which has a slow synth induced build up and a beautiful guitar lick and is one of the smoothest songs of the album. The spoken poetry on this one is lovely and the guitar work is one of the best on the record with that 80s retro shred feel. All in all, ROR is definitely a breath of fresh air in our music scene and we hope you thoroughly enjoy this album without any haste or worry.
