The band comprises of four young lads; three of its members’ hail from Kalimpong and the fourth member comes from Kozhikode. Their funky - groovy music may begin with an idea of a rock band imitating its ethic folk music, but it certainly doesn’t end there. Simply put, they can bend traditional folk music's relative simplicity to their collective wills, as they do on their crowdfunded debut album, “Joro”. “Joro” which translates to fever was released on 2019 where they have produced a set of ferociously energetic songs that bark even louder than they bite. ‘Thupari Udi, like all good album openers, incorporates most of the elements that will be explored in the album: loose jams between guitar and violin and vocals, flamboyantly euphoric singing, together with enticing rhythms that continuously pull the listener to dance along. “Sanglanga Dooby” is one of the mellower songs in the record along with “Bhari”. The songs' slow sections offer listeners a chance to catch their breath before plunging into an epic conclusion. Gauley Bhai excels at raising the heart rate to levels it is unfamiliar with, then bringing it to a halt for a moment of almost slow-motion contemplation. The album reaches its pinnacle with ‘Ghamandi,' the heaviest of the album's ten songs. The progressive track is divided into several parts in which the band goes all out, speeding up, slowing down, and delivering every staple aspect of rock music, from guitar solos to frantic drums and bass to growling vocals and raunchy ends. Inspired by Nepali folk, South Indian percussive elements, and rock, blues and fusion, Gauley Bhai have the uncanny ability to elicit and intensify your deepest feelings. Joro isn't one to hold back. Their upbeat songs will make you want to dance, while their sad songs will make you want to hold your heart on your shoulders.
