On Your Mark’s EP starts off with “Zindagi” which sounds modern and retro – both at the same time – and you know what to expect from this outfit. A bouncy alternative and modern rock mix – crispy and melodic at the same time. The artwork feels like something out of a Manga or Ghibli and maybe we can expect an anime theme song as well on this EP? Who knows? Let’s see. The first track definitely sounds fresh and gels more as it builds up. The bass mix is lovely and it’s a well-balanced uptempo track. If you’re a fan of the 00s alternative and emo scene – this EP is set out to be for you. “Gantabya” comes in next with an acoustic feel and thumb stops – as it sounds like you know this style well – but what stands out is a powerful vocal presence with no twangs. A lovely alternative acoustic ruse meant to make you feel familiarized with it from the get go. “Sara Sansar” comes in next with a post-grunge-ish intro that builds into an alternative ballad and the presentation is an ode to the entire spectrum of black nailpolish bands we adored while coming of age. This song could have gone way more heavier and should have probably with more guitar trackings but we can see what the band is aiming for. “Eklo” is the last track and is the anime opening track we were waiting for. The heaviest one on the EP with even a scream thrown in the mix – the emo alt rock is feel on this one – a strong way to finish the record. Definitely a fun release to check out – let’s see what the future holds for the lads.
