The crisp sonic assault of an EP is Asphyxiate. The band name aptly suits the songs presented you on a platter of what feels like holocaust remnants dipped in Reptile’s acid spits from MK. 5 tracks of proper technical death metal and top notch production. The first track “Deceased Species” starts this rampage with blast beats and technical variations that make you wonder if each members have 30 fingers and 4 legs – well – maybe they do – perfect for your bedroom poster – the vocals are a fresh take on things not going too low and switching things up with a dubstep feel at two points. A lovely way to start off the EP. And if you’re big on Necrophagist, Dying Fetus or even Gorguts – this record is highly recommended. “I Obstinate Entirety” comes in next and is our favorite already. A rampant track with subtle variations and a sick break – the outro is a nice change of pace. The third track “Intraocular Injection” starts off with a legato infused groove before going full throttle into killer territories. This is the sludgiest sounding track on the EP without being sludgy. The vocal delivery and the drums on this one is impeccable. Here we do need to address the elephant in the room – each member is as technically proficient on their instruments in par with any idols thy might have grown up listening. Love the ending machine gun jabs on this one. “Abortion” comes in next and is the most neo-prog-death metal sounding track on this one. The guitar switches and riffages is an onslaught – straight up slaughter. The crispiness of this EP stands out and the presentation sounds fresh and not overstretched at any instant. “Virulent” ends things off – literally. The variations and play around with time signatures on this one is tasty. Muhammed Suiçmez would approve of this track if he ever comes out of his mechanical engineering hibernation. This is such a kickass way to close off a kickass album – the dissonant breaks – brutal AF without 9 stringed guitars – this is a high and definite recommend for fans of technical and progressive metal fans.
