Heralded as one of the few ‘different’ sounding band in the scene, this eponymous debut of the group definitely played the pivotal role in achieving that moniker. “Everything Looks Good in Black & White” kicks off this LP and we somehow know that guitar delays and big solos are a big part of this band’s sound – the SPACE sound. The instrumental track makes way to the brightest sounding track in the album “Meet The Bright” and it is a groovy number. Do check out the cool comic style video as well on their YouTube. “Hallucinating” follows and it is a crowd pleaser in every gig with its smooth vocals and an interesting change of time signature in the last quarter of the song. “Free” and “I” come up as the two beautiful brooding numbers. The lyrical themes delve into hope and inner strength which is much more than needed and welcome in the ever strange ways of the modern world. Now we get “Sum of the Multiverse” which dare we say might be one of the best instrumentals ever to be released in our music scene with its soaring guitars, unexpected flute sections and even the subtle “Pa Ra Ras”. The track is an absolute delight which gives its way to “Abstrophone” which the band states is a solemn tribute to a friend departed. The time signature is tricky and lovely in this one and is one of the two tracks to feature some growls on the vocal part which blend perfectly – given the mood of the song. The second track to feature them growls in the title track “Space” which might be the heaviest one in terms of its sonic bashing – with other tracks being heavy with its mood and progressions. The closing track is “Dreaming” and it is not an understatement to say that it might be one of the most beautiful closing track to any album – period! If you have clapped along to this song during their live gigs, well you know the feel. All in all, it is an impressive debut and is definitely a band to keep an eye out for.
